For a change, the controversies and the name-calling and the bickering can take a break and the love of the sport can be celebrated. India gave its fans a reminder to why they love the sport like they do.
Virat Kohli played his career best on Tuesday with an unbeaten 133 against Sri Lanka. And after the dreadful Test series again Australia which resulted in a 0-4, this has come to a great relief for the Indian team.
“It has to be the best innings of my career. The kind of situation we were in, chasing 321 and also we needed the bonus point, so it was a crunch game and to play an innings like that at the right time, I felt it was a great innings for me.”
For now, India has high chances of making it into the finals by thrashing Sir Lanka by seven wickets. They were after a score of 321 in 41 overs and accomplished that target in the 37th over. They have tied themselves with Sri Lanka’s position in the tally with 15 points in the second position.
Talking to the captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, he says that he always believed their team had what it took to overcome the set target. He said that the team put out their best and played the game with zest and motivation.
For now, the boys plan on going shopping, have a little relaxation on the schedule and of course their routine practice because it is not in their hands now, Dhoni puts it.
“This was some of the best ODI cricket I have been a part of. When you need 321 off 40, you need a good start. You need the quantity. We wanted to keep them down to 250, maximum 270”. Once the team started, their momentum was on fire. They played tremendously well all throughout their chase and reached their goal with ease.
Sri Lanka is all praises for team India as well and say that their batting was top notch today. Along with Virat Kohli, the other batsmen also batted very well.
Both Virat Kohli and Dhoni believe that they have several good points to learn from this match as they still continue working and performing to their best forms.
For now its rest and relaxation along with practice for the Indian team!
