Americans love entertainment and also love to pay for getting entertained, this is exactly what Novak said on the Saturday night of the US Open, 2011. Briefly what he meant was, they are paying for the tickets and we should give our best to entertain them- from sport-star to cine-star, in his words. Loose words, making Roger Federer’s and Nadal’s moves for fun, and on Saturday evening post-match actions made the media goggle over wondering, what is exactly Novak doing, for the first time in the International Tennis, Novak evaded the interview after the match to get on someone who was dancing on the stands so that he could shake some steps along side, but how much ever events happen, tennis is a serious business for him. Freaky actions, light moments, not-so-serious deportments might make us think the otherwise.
Who needs the title more?
Novak is considering it very close, because he has be thwarted by Federer and Nadal in the previous years of US Open, this is going to be an one big chance for Novak to win his first title, if things go his way.
For every Superman, there is kryptonite in some or the other form, Nadal sees it in the form of David Nalbadian [Argentina]. Nadal calls him a very dangerous player, he feels that the sets might turn any way. They practice together, close folks, they know each other and how they react to different strokes, Nadal is happy and worried!
Roger treated the fans on Saturday morning with his brilliant sets, and they felt as if they were hitting back on the timeline, proving H. G. Wells right. In 2006, if it was Pete for the serve, it was Roger for forehand. The power-packed, and brilliance exhibited in the sets of Roger was not only a treat to his vintage fans but also a boost for him. This 2011 US Open title is going to a life-changing moment for Roger, if he clutches to it, he would extend it to nine straight years of major Championships.
As a Roger fan, I say it is not a great deal of joy seeing Federer win the title, it is even bigger, and magnificent to see the old Roger in him, the agile, vigorous “forehand father” back in him. It is not important to win your opponent, it is more critical to win over your opponent’s confidence, and it is exactly what Roger did to Cilic on Saturday morning.
The entire point is among this trio – Nadal, Novak and Roger, who succumbs to who? All it needs is- nothing but sustenance for Nadal, keeping the fire of winning this Championship alive for Novak. And finally a big leap of faith for Roger to kill the confidence of Nadal and Novak as how he did to Cilic.
