The Jammy Boy of Indian cricket Rahul Dravid is out of the ODIs from now and he is happy about it and satisfied too. I was wondering what these great players would do after retirement? Because retirement kills more than hard work.
Would Rahul feel sad about his retirement from the ODIs? Would he sit idle thinking about what to do further to keep him in the same fit? Will he ever think and crave to be back?
As Augustus said “Marmoream relinquo, quam latericiam accepi” meaning “I found Rome a city of bricks, and left it a city of marbles”- and that is what Rahul has done in past, over the last decade Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid were like the three corners of the Bermuda Triangle who made the trails of other teams disappear.
His career has been clean and successful. Dravid credits the ODIs for shaping him up, honing his skills and developing the pinch of versatility and still not miss playing ODI. This may seem conflicting, seems Dravid had this idea of saying a Goodbye two years ago and get back to the tests, but the energy chase and driving the scores have made him stay longer and better. Rahul is more than satisfied about his ODIs and has no regrets left behind, ODIs have taught him something very important time managing and energy balancing, and he just smiles about that.
When one form fades away, other still invites with open hands, the Tests, and Rahul Dravid gave the tinge of assurance and hopes to focus completely on the Tests. Though at the start he had a catch between the Tests and ODIs now he feels that it is easier to play both and also play one with proper skills and time gaps. To answer to all the questions above, he would stay with us in the Tests and keep himself double-fit.
“Life begins at retirement”- and the life is about Rahul at the Tests. He deserves more, more than embracing farewell, passionate hi-fives, a smile which would convey thousand emotions, Dravid deserves a beautiful respect.
