The cord tying Carlos Tevez to Manchester City may just have snapped as Roberto Mancini prepares to discharge the player after he refused to play as a substitute in the game at Bayern Munich. City was finished at the 2-0 game and so was Tevez, said Mancini.
Friction between the two started a year ago when Tevez expressed his desire to move away from the club due family reasons. He joined the club two years ago coming from Manchester United.
Though Mancini has made his decision against Tevez and said it was a mistake to pick him to the team in the first place, the matter will forward on to City’s owner Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabi. The final decision will be taken by him.
The issue got to its boil in the last game where Tezez not only refused to warm up well ahead of the game but also refused to play as a substitute, angering Mancini.
“This can’t happen in a top club – to refuse to go in to help his team mates. What I said to Carlos is between me, him and the team”, he said. “But if we want to improve as a team Carlos can’t play with us. With me, he is finished.”
Mancini said that he believed that match could have been saved however Tevez refused to come out. Tevez apparently declined to warm up or play for that match. The cameras caught him with his head jerks refusing to listen to the coaches and come out on the field.
So far, Tevez has played just one full game and made minutes of appearances in other games. He was part of Manchester United when they won the Premier League back in 2008 but joined their rivals, City, a few months later in a deal which cost around 32million pounds. After some time however he expressed that he was missing his daughters and family abck in Argentina and wished to move out of the club.
He denies not playing with the club at heart and says that he has been a professional all this while and was the top scorer last season. He said he will continue to play the same agreeing to the fact that he wanted to move out right from last season.
For now, there is a fuming Mancini and a panel in discussion of where the move of Tevez, if any, is to be.
