The audience went “ooh” in despair and bolt was left thunderstruck. Sprint master Usain Bolt no longer holds the title of 100 meter champion as he was disqualified after a false start in the Daegu Championships.
He jumped ahead to the sprint well before it was time which disqualified him right away. Even before the race started, Bolt and the rest of the public knew, he had lost. It was due to his own misfortune that he couldn’t run the race at all.
Bolt realized what he had done and as soon as he took off to run before the gun was sounded, he put his head back in regret knowing the blunder he had done. He was indeed very disappointed with the incident.
The Daegu Championships could have given him another world title to hold and keep but he threw his singlet off with aggression as he knew he had no chance anymore. Bolt, however knew that it was due to his own mistake that he was out of the competition. He looked at the track he was supposed to run on and let his hands cover his face.
It was well known that Bolt is a fierce and confirming competitor at the race and with him out of the picture, the first place was secured by Yohan Blake with timing of 9.92 seconds. The next spot was taken by Walter Dix of the US with a time of 10.08. The third position was Kim Collins’, who had earlier won a heat of Stawell Gift, earlier this year. He finished with a t time of 10.09 seconds.
All the players who followed Blake took 10 or more seconds. Being the only one under 10 gave him even more applause and recognition after the race. The path was left easy for him with Bolt out of the picture. The case could have been much different right now otherwise.
Daegu Championships were very important for Usain Bolt as he would have established himself with a world title once again. Even though Bolt did not hold the fastest time this entire year and especially due to the break he had taken. Even then he performed well at all the earlier events.
The IAAF has strict rules adhering to false starts and they were followed.
Nevertheless Bolt has still seized the past Olympics titles for two sprints as the third one is now in Blake’s name.
