French National team coach and World Cup winner Laurent Blanc has said that he believes Arsenal’s Samir Nasri is still looking for a move from the Emirates.
Nasri has been linked with Manchester United and Manchester City this summer, but things went cool and calm for a few weeks, and the Frenchman seemed to have come to an agreement with the London club. But speculations have been escalating once again after a breakdown in discussions to sign a new contract.
The midfielder has not entered into any formal talks with any club as of yet. Arsene Wenger is wary of losing two of his best players in the form of Nasri and Fabregas. But Blanc is hoping the matter is resolved so the player can concentrate on the campaign ahead instead of being distracted.
“Unless you have proof of the contrary, Nasri is an Arsenal player,” Blanc said in a press conference ahead of France’s friendly clash with Chile.
“He did not play their last game in Portugal, I think… because he felt pain [injury].
“That’s it, I dont know more. I just know that he is in talks with his club. Not to extend his contract because he said he would not, but to change club.
“I personally can’t wait for this to happen, because psychologically, it is never easy to play in a team and to not be sure whether you will start the season or leave. I admit it, it can be disturbing really.
“But like I said, he will not end up without a club. And when you look at the candidates [to recruit him], I wouldn’t complain if I were in his position. But if all this could end quite rapidly, it would be better for us.”
With Marouane Chamakh also expressing his doubts that it may be hard for Arsenal to hold on to Nasri and Fabregas, the rumours have been added fuel. The Gunners’ fans will be keeping their fingers crossed and hope that Wenger can hold on to them both.
