Just a couple days ago, gold sensation Rory Mcllroy said that he wasn’t interested in the PGA tour and that he probably won’t play it for a couple of years, until recently he decided he just might.
Mcllroy earlier said that he played in the PGA last year and things didn’t go as smooth as he planned. However he recently met and spoke with the officials of PGA and said that he’d want to be a part of it next season, playing at least 15 of the events.
In the year 2010, Mcllroy ended his PGA membership saying that he did not want to travel so much.
“It doesn’t mean to say I’ll never join the Tour again but just at this point in time the schedule I have right now works pretty well. We’ll just have to wait and see.” The wait then seems to be over as he is once again considering joining the tour.
He is even deeming to buying a house in Florida as he says that he loves the country and he gets to play the best golf there.
Till date, Mcllroy has three major wins in his name. He wasn’t particularly happy with his performance in the British Open and blamed the weather conditions. It was then he brought up that he much rather play in his home country where he is more suited to the weather conditions. And the British Open performance was what changed Mcllroy’s decision about joining the PGA tour.
It has been over a year that Mcllroy played in the PGA tour and he sounds excited to go back. Because he gave up the tour last year, he was only allowed to play three of the major events. If he chooses to join the PGA, he will be allowed to play many more games and increase his chances of winning more titles to his name.
The PGA is known to have given stardom to champions like Tiger Woods and this would prove to be a great opportunity for the 22-year-old to do the same perhaps. However others feel that PGA is not necessary to give that boost up to the Mcllroy; the European Tour is equally good even though it is scrutinized that Mcllroy should commit more of himself to the US as his prominence is likely to flourish more in his home country than anywhere else.
Be it sports persons or anyone else, who doesn’t miss home.
