The deal got its official stamp on Monday when the move of Juan Mata to Chelsea was made final. The star of Spain International will now be moving to Stamford Bridge and wearing blue, as he makes his transition from Valencia.
Mata, 23 years old, has signed his five year deal with Chelsea. He has completed all formalities as well as completed and passed the medical test. He says that he is looking forward to an amazing experience with the elite club and he was happy to be part of it. There were news of differences that had risen earlier, however all is cleared now and the deal has been sealed.
The world cup winner has already begun the training and says that its great training with a group of talented players as the club has. He has been enjoying as well as learning from the moment he stepped foot. He also said that though he has moved from a much bigger club, he looks forward to a great time with Chelsea in all areas.
“Valencia was a big club anyway but I have left to join a bigger club and it is all about the opportunity to win trophies and I have that here.”
So far Chelsea has signed Oriol Romeu, Romelu Lukaku and Thibaut Courtois this summer and making Mata their fourth addition to the group.
Mata revealed that he had offers from Arsenal as well as Tottenham but refused both to finally say yes to wearing blue now.
He already knows exactly what his play and position will be in the coming season. Mata wants to be able to play more attacking in the team.
“The plan is that I can play on either flank or even in the middle playing in between the lines of midfield and attack. Mata also said that he was very comfortable with the ball. “I am an attacking player and above all I like to set up goals and score them also”, he said.
He is still settling in to the new surroundings, stadium and training with all the new faces around him but is very eager to get the ball rolling. He wished to win a trophy right in the first season and has hopes on the Premier League.
Certainly that will be the burning desire for all the players, in this team as well as the others. And in a matter of weeks, we’ll all know who it goes to!
