As the 2011 Formula One season enjoys it mid three week break it gives time to reflect on the amazing twist brought in by the teams. The Red Bulls have dominated the first six races wining them rather easily. But the Ferrari of Alonso brought that to an end when it won the British GP and then McLarens came back to win the German and Hungary GPs. Red Bulls have failed to win any of the last three races. Ferrari and McLaren have certainly caught up with them and giving them a good fight. The most impressive have been McLaren who have secured consecutive wins in the last two races.
Red Bull team boss Christian Horner said that the team has been working hard and that they will do their best to keep developing the car. He insisted that the team never actually dominated the season and that the other top teams were close behind from the start itself. He added that the team has been able to extract the best from the car and the drivers in the grand prix according to the situation. That is a point where the team-work and unity has stood out for Red Bulls. He said that their attitude doesn’t change suddenly just because they are not able to win a few races.
This comes as a contrast to what Vettel has commented after the Hungary GP. He had expressed concern over the fact that Red Bulls have not been impressive enough in the last three races. He had urged for the team managers and engineers to regain their focus and get back to winning ways. He said that there is a lot to learn and things can improve looking at the others. He was satisfied with the car and finishing second in the Hungary GP but felt that he could have been a bit smarter.
Meanwhile, Ferrari team principal Stefano Domenicali has stated that he was happy with the team performance, especially in the past few races but he thinks that the team has to stay focused for their next race in Spa and have to further improve the car’s performance.
Hamilton on the other hand has been very excited about the way things have worked out in the McLaren camp and had already expressed his delight to see the car perform so well on track. He considers the German GP win to be one of his great drives of the season. He seemed to be the fastest on track in Hungary as well, looking for another win, until a stroke of bad luck made him finish fourth on the grid. He expressed his disappointment about the outcome of the race and said that he would have loved to see a one-two finish in the Hungary GP.
With over three weeks to go before the next race for the Belgium GP at Spa on the 28th of August, Hamilton said he would be relaxing and have some time out to catch up with people. He also added that it gives him time for plenty of training.
