Will The Lord Reign At Lord’s?

He might get there, he might not. You can stop talking about it but you can’t stop thinking about it!! You might want to focus on other things but you can’t deny it!

Will the Lord reign at Lord's?

Will the Lord reign at Lord's?

Yes, all eyes are going to be on the Little Master when he walks out to bat, probably for the last time, at the Mecca of Cricket. No other batsman has had so many eyeballs following him or tongues wagging when he walks into bat. Tendulkar is on a Bradmanesque figure with 99 centuries for quite a while now. He has had a few opportunities to reach the three figure mark. The semifinal against Pakistan seemed perfect. He almost seemed destined to reach the landmark on that day in Mohali where the fielders presented him with many chances. But he left the landmark for some other day when he departed for 85.

Another opportunity was presented as India qualified for the World Cup final. A century in the final in front of his home fans seemed perfect yet again. But he nicked an away going ball to keep his fans waiting for some other day.

Now when Tendulkar will walk out on to the greens of the Lord’s Cricket Ground, the air of anticipation builds up again! The 2000th Test match being played along with the 100th encounter between India and England and the stage couldn’t get bigger for the Little Master. Tendulkar has never crossed 37 at this ground and averages 21 in seven innings over here. This is one record he would want to set straight and there is no better way to break the jinx than signing off with a century.

Has the Lord planned it all?

Hi, I am Monish Menon from Hyderabad and currently working at Franklin Templeton Investments as a Compliance Business Analyst. Sport has always been my passion since I was a kid and I invest all my non-existent free time by watching, playing, writing and analyzing various sporting events across the world. Apart from being a diehard Manchester United fan and a Ferrari supporter, I believe that Roger Federer is still the best tennis player and Sachin Tendulkar is God. I play club cricket and I also am a part of my organization’s cricket and football squad. Being such a sports fanatic, writing about it is something that came naturally to me and I am glad that I got an opportunity through thesportsmirror.com to share my thoughts with the rest of the world.
