The score was 2-0 and both those goals were named Suarez. The entire semi finals between Uruguay and Peru played on Tuesday symbolically ended roughly in three minutes because it were those three minutes that Luis Suarez scored two goals for the Uruguay side.
The score was nil during the first half but eight minutes into the second half got Diego Forlan in attempting to score but the kick was saved by the goalie: Raul Fernandez however the rebound was directly put into the mouth of the goal by Luis Suarez immediately afterwards.
Three minutes later, it was Suarez who scored for the second time as Alvaro Pereira passed the ball, swiftly navigating between defenders, in Suarez successfully and easily getting the second goal. He was the hero of the game.
Suarez, after the match, said that he and team had to perform better than they did with the quarterfinals against Argentina. They had to attack and that is exactly what they did. For now, the team must enjoy the victory but also focus on the finals to be played this weekend.
Peru was already having a tough time in swallowing to goals in such proximity to each other when their situation worsened as their captain; Juan Vargas was given a straight red card for elbowing Sebastian Coates, Uruguay’s defender, and Peru were left with 10 men on the field. Walter Vilchez and Guerrero did keep on trying to push the game along but in vain.
Peru had several shots to the net which were however saved by Fernando Muslera. Peru’s Yotun scored from a distance of 35 yards which was effortlessly rejected by Muslera. Peru was close to scoring as Vargas took over the ball and almost was on the verge of making the opening goal however neither Paulo Guerrero nor Luis Advincula could receive it from him and score and after 53 minutes, the game was dominated by Uruguay’s side.
Uruguay will fight for the title with the winners of the Paraguay-Venezuela match to be played on Wednesday. The final will take place on Sunday in Buenos Aires. Last year, they finished in the fourth place and certainly look forward to making that a championship with the performances they have delivered so far, especially the semi finals.
Uruguay has their record of 14th title as they gear up for the last challenge that lies ahead on Sunday; to be able to hold the elite title.
