Manchester City captain Carlos Tevez has informed the club of his desire to leave and move to closer to his daughters. Tevez broke off from his Copa America campaign for Argentina and contacted the club expressing his desire to move. Tevez had expressed a similar desire back in January but was played away by the owners and manager Mancini. But with Tevez currently in South America, that is unlikely to happen again.
Geographically speaking Manchester is no farther from Buenos Aires to Madrid or Milan, but it is more a case of integrating within a community and Italy seems a better place to be in. After his daughters having reunited with their mother, he doesn’t want to put that relationship under risk again by staying away from them.
Tevez had an excellent couple of seasons at City after he moved from the other part of Manchester and scored 53 goals in 86 appearances and captaining the club to third spot in the league assuring them of a Champions League qualification spot. He was also the joint winner of the Golden Boot along with Dimitar Berbatov and would have definitely made it his own if he hadn’t been ruled out of the last month due to an hamstring injury.
Although there are no bidders yet for Tevez, the world’s best clubs are expected to knock on City’s doors as they look to make the Argentinean international a part of their squad. While Manchester City will regret losing out on a top player, they would also want to maximize the return on their most valuable player.
Whatever happens, it surely is going to be an interesting phase till the transfer period is open till August 31st. Keep watching this space for more!
