The buy-and-sell market in the soccer world is still open for the upcoming season. In the latest offer from Corinthians of £35 million for getting back Carlos Tevez, Manchester City have rejected the proposal.
Carlos Tevez was a part of the Corinthians from 2004 till 2006 with a successful playing period. Last December he had revealed that he wanted to leave Manchester City due to ‘family reasons’ and Corinthians are taking this opportunity to include the player back in their team. However it looks like they will need to bid higher and that too soon, because Manchester City rejected the recent £35 million for the striker.
It was money from the TV rights and sponsors that would have enabled Corinthians to make the transition fee for the striker as the economy of Brazil is flourishing currently and the TV deals would sponsor the club well enough.
“Tevez did very well for Corinthians in 2005 – he helped the club to the Brazilian championship – before he moved to England the following year. It would be closer to his daughters in Buenos Aires and so I think we have to say that this is a possibility.”
After the deal with Tavez will bee sealed amongst one of the prospecting contenders, City will then increase their pursuit to get Sergio Aguero of Atletico Madrid. It is said that further deals will not be decided until the pending one of Tavez is settled. And they will not rush into trading or selling Tavez until a juicy offer does not reach them as the striker is a rewarding player both for the team and the finances. Earlier, Inter Milan made a bid for Tavez but ruled out the decision afterwards.
Tavez’s agent says “It is a big deal and a tough deal, because it is one of a very big nature and it might not be simple.”
City are interested in getting Arsenal’s Samir Nasri however that will depend upon if or not Nasri decides to sign a fresh contract with the Gunners or now and of not, then how much he would be worth. Currently, besides City, even Manchester United have their bids ready for Nasri.
Tavez has been a crucial player for Manchester City. Even though he struggled with his form during the latter part of the last season, he still made it to the top scorers list and even with Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov.
Manchester City was in the third position last season and with a couple buy ins and outs, they look forward to a more fruitful season this time even if it means having to say goodbye to Tavez.
