Harbhajan Singh, popularly known as Turbanator has been endorsing the Royal Stag company which is competing directly against McDowell’s No. 1 Platinum, endorsed by his teammate and Indian captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. They have each tried to popularize their bands by making appearances in the ad for their respective companies.
For those who haven’t seen the striking ad by Dhoni for UB Group which is owned by Vijay Mallya, please see the following links. The first link is for the ad by Bhajji and the second ad is by Dhoni.

Frankly, looking at the way Dhoni mocks his own teammate is quite hilarious. But evidently it has not gone down well with Bhajji and his family, who have filed a case against Mallya’s UB Group. They have considered the offence personally as it not only mocks Bhajji but also his family and past. They have demanded a apology letter from Mallya and to take the ad off-air within three days, apart from a compensation amount of Rs 1,00,000.
Mallya has responded saying that he has no intentions to take the ad off air. He said that his lawyers are looking into the case and will recommend the next course of action against the legal notice. But Mallya said that he never intended to offend Harbhajan Singh personally. “It was just a spoof between the two companies. He added that there are several spoofs on air about many of our politicians. Think about what would happen if all of them started sending legal notices.” McDowell’s company was expecting a reaction from their rival for the spoof in the form of another ad but certainly not as a legal notice.
This brings the two players in an interesting position where once they were seen in the same commercial a few months back in the World Cup campaign and now they are pitched against each other. We all know how sentimental Bhajji can be and here it will be interesting to see his nature against his team captain as they prepare to go into more than a month long tour against the England side.
