Emmanuel Eboue and Jay Emmanuel Thomas joined the long list of players who are seeking a career away from the Emirates after being deemed surplus to their requirements.
Arsene Wenger, who recently signed Gervinho, is looking to let Eboue and Jay Thomas pursue their goals with different clubs. Eboue is linked with a 4 million pound move to Turkish side Galatasaray while Thomas, who hasn’t been much in a Gunners shirt, is linked with a move to Championship side Ipswich for 1 million pounds.
Eboue was left out of Arsenal’s trip to Asia with Arsene Wenger claiming a calf injury as the reason that the Ivorian was left out. He was also left out of the squad that travelled to Germany last week for pre-season preparations.
The list of players looking to leave Arsenal in the transfer window includes the Dane Nicklas Bendtner and goalkeeper Manuel Almunia. Almunia is looking for a move closer to home in Spain and is being tipped as the replacement for Atletico Madrid’s David De Gea who moved to Manchester United in England. Bendtner meanwhile is attracting interest from German side Borussia Dortmund.
Arsenal are already being written off as title contenders this season with a bunch load of players leaving and uncertainty about the skipper Fabregas’ future. Wenger will have to be more active in the transfer market if Arsenal are to finish anywhere near the third spot they claimed last season.
