With rumours adrift that a frustrated Samir Nasri will look for a move away from the Gunners in search of trophies, Arsene Wenger is apparently interested in bringing the French Winger Mathieu Valbuena of Marseille as a potential replacement.
Though Wenger has stated that he will do his best to keep Nasri, Nasri replied that he is frustrated by not winning any trophies during his stay at the Emirates. Taking in view his dissatisfaction, either of the Manchester clubs or Chelsea looks to swoop for the Frenchman. And Wenger, as usually, is planning to bring in another French player, Valbuena to cover up the damage.
Valbuena has a contract lasting till 2014 at Marseille, but they could be tempted to sell him for the right price. It is said that he is valued at around €14 million. Marseille, who lost the Ligue 1 championship to Lille this year, are looking to strengthen their squad. It would be surprising if coach Deschamps decides to sell one of his core players.
After 6 fruitless seasons, most Arsenal stars seem to have run out of patience and are looking for greener pastures. Wenger’s philosophy is a good one indeed, but he has to find the right mix of youth and experience, which is what Arsenal are lacking.
With Fab and Nasri nearing the exit, the Gunners will have to spend big to bring in reinforcements. If they fail to do so, a situation similar to the one Liverpool found themselves two seasons ago might be awaiting the Emirates.
