The inspirational Charlie Adam, captain of relegated Blackpool, is still waiting for his deal with Liverpool to be done. Liverpool tried signing him in the January window but were unsuccessful. They have re-ignited their interest in him as manager “King” Kenny is keen on him.
It has been reported that Blackpool are demanding 12 million for their star man, but Liverpool are ready to pay up only 8. Though Aston Villa are ready to enter a bidding war, the Reds are still in the front for signing him.
“I go back to Blackpool on Monday and that’s the way it is,” Adam said in the Liverpool Echo. “Everybody knows the situation. The club have met with Liverpool but that’s as far as it has gone.
“I had a conversation with the chairman but that will remain private. It’s important that we keep everything in-house. Whatever happens will happen.”
To add weight to their bid, Liverpool are reportedly ready to send two players on a season long loan to lighten the loss for Blackpool.
Adam was the centre of the Blackpool team which entertained all with their beautiful and attack-minded football. Their heroics were however cut short rudely by being relegated on the last day of the season. Manager Ian Holloway also entertained the football fans with his comic media conferences.
