Sebastian Vettel drove his Red Bull to yet another pole position at the Canadian Grand Prix Qualifying on Saturday, coming ahead of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, in second and third position respectively. He ended with the fastest time of 1:13:014. This means that the two Ferraris have managed to capture two of the top three qualifying positions after a very long time.
Mark Webber came in fourth fastest while the McLaren of Lewis Hamilton ended up fifth while Jenson Button. The Mercedes of Rosberg was sixth with Schumacher finishing eighth. Heidfield came in ninth followed by Petrov to complete the top ten grid positions.
Ferrari looked strong from the start setting very strong lap times in Q1 and Q2. Mark Webber seemed to be desperately trying to get into the top three, making run after run, but was not as fast as his team mate, Sebastian Vettel. The McLaren cars never looked very promising, as they seem to struggle to stay in pace with the top front runners.
Adrian Sutil was 14th while Paul di Resta came in 17th for Vijay Mallay’s Force India. Narain Karthikeyan ended up last on the grid but came in within the 107% of the top timing, to qualify for the race. But Jérôme d’Ambrosio, a rookie was not able to post a time within the stipulated 107%. This means that the driver has not been yet given a place in the grid. This results in an uncertainty for his place in the starting grid for the race on Sunday.
