Jo-Wilfried Tsonga stunned the legendary Roger Federer as he knocked out the tennis maestro in a 5 set thriller. Federer looked strong at the start taking the first set easily 6-3. The second set went into a tie breaker which Federer had complete control of, winning it 7-6 (tiebreak 7-3). It seemed to be another day in the office for him until Tsonga suddenly turned the tables in the third set.

There was something about his game that was appealing, the way he came down from two sets down to win the third set 6-4, that too out winning the great Roger at Wimbledon was something amazing to see. There was nothing for Tsonga to lose in the match. Roger on the other hand was playing rather cautiously and one could see him making more unforced errors and fewer winners in this match than usual which in the end, cost him the match.
Tsonga kept a constant pressure on Roger as he pressed on, producing some great winners. Federer on the other hand looked out of sorts somewhat, suddenly losing his magical touch, the shots flew too long, the winners dried up and the serve was nothing more than ordinary.
Tsonga went on to win the fourth set 6-4 as he matched up to what Federer produced and at times did even better. The way he ran all over the grass court, was evident of the amount of grit determination and passion locked inside Tsonga.
In the beginning of the fifth set, as Tsonga broke Federer on his serve, one could see the body language of Federer, he tried his best to come back into the match, but it was too late. There was sense of urgency in the shots of Roger. In the end, even Roger could not pull things back; as Tsonga went on to win the fifth and final set 6-4 dashing the hopes of the Swiss of a 7th Wimbledon title this year.
Tsonga was more than delighted, jumping around to express his delight and the crowds more than stunned as a long shot from Federer meant the end of the road for Roger Federer at Wimbledon this year. Winning the match 3-6, 7-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, means Tsonga now advances to face Djokovic in the semi-finals for the Men’s Single Title.
