Cristiano Ronaldo, who was strongly linked with a move to the only club that could afford buying him, thrashed away all transfer talks saying that he was not leaving Real Madrid for Manchester City. Ronaldo claimed that he wasn’t playing for money and was very happy with his life in Madrid despite the team finishing second to Barcelona in the La Liga.
Ronaldo scored 53 goals for Real last season and although they won the Copa del Ray, they had a disappointing season by their high standards. They were knocked out by Barcelona in the semifinals in the Champions League and there was increasing speculation about Ronaldo’s future at the Bernabeu. There were rumours about laying down his terms to the wealthy Middle East owners of Manchester about wanting 400,000 pounds a week, the No.7 jersey and the captain’s armband. However Ronaldo dismissed all such claims and said money was not a deciding factor in his future.
He was happy with the way he was treated at Madrid and was ready to sign a 10 year deal if offered. He also praised Mourinho calling him the best in the business and said was looking forward to playing with the new signings in the upcoming season. He also said that he hoped that Real would keep Adebayor for the upcoming season and was pretty confident about pushing Barca of the top spot in addition to winning the Champions League in 2012.
