Tottenham Hotspur manager, Harry Redknapp has rubbished all the possibilities about the striker’s move away from the White Hart Lane.
Harry Redknapp has denied all the possible reports about Peter Crouch moving out of the White Hart Lane this summer. The Spurs boss is adamant that the England International is not going anywhere and also insisted later that the club needs another striker in the squad to boost their chances to get back in the top four which will follow with a Champions League spot as well.
Tottenham are the hot favourites this summer. As soon as the season got over, all the big European Giants are after the club to sign some magic like talents. It includes Gareth Bale who was linked to AC Milan and Inter Milan; Luka Modric to the Premier League Champions, Manchester United; and now Peter Crouch.
The striker has been linked with a move away from the White Hart Lane with Sunderland being learned as the leaders to lure away the England International this summer.
However, Redknapp denied that the striker will move stating “I doubt it. Crouchy is a good player. I like him.”
“He is a great lad and I love him as a fella.”
“He is not one I’m looking to shift. We are looking to bring a striker in but he is not one of those that we are looking to sell if we can help it.”
The England International had a pretty decent season at his first year at Spurs but he failed to impress this season, as he struggled with his form, scoring just four league goals. However, this is not the first time Steve Bruce has been linked with a deal for Crouch. He previously tried to sign him during the striker’s Portsmouth days, but the striker decided to move with his former Portsmouth manager at Tottenham in the summer transfer window of 2009.
Also, Redknapp has also insisted that the North London side is in need to sign a new striker to boost the team’s chances next season. Several names like Didier Drogba, Moussa Dembele and Leandro Damiao has been linked with the Spurs.
The need for a new striker has put the future of current Spurs strikers such as Roman Pavluychenko, Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Crouch, under doubt as Tottenham are desperate to get back in the top four and grab a Champions League Football spot next season.
