Frantic transfer activity continues at the old lady of Turin. After signing Italian international Andrea Pirlo from AC Milan, Reto Ziegler the Swiss left back from Sampdoria and Michele Pazienza from Napoli, Juventus has now made four permanent signings. Alessandro Matri, Fabio Quagliarella, Simone Pepe and Marco Motta all were loaned to Juventus from their respective clubs last season have now joined Juventus.
Juve had a disappointing last season; they failed to qualify for European competition and finished 7th and this lead to the sacking of their manager Luigi Delneri. After Antonio Conte replaced him in the summer the club has been spending plenty to freshen up their aging squad. Juventus signed Matri from Cagliari by paying them 15.5 million Euros and Fabio Quagliarella from Napoli with 10.5 million Euros. These two signings were justified because they performed well last season. Despite giving not so convincing performances last season, Simone Pepe and Marco Motta also have been signed from Udinese with fees 7.5 million and 3.75 million Euros respectively.
Juventus board is still looking to strengthen the squad that can mount a serious challenge for the Scudetto and they are willing to provide more cash to help further transfers. No European football can be a big stumbling block in Juve’s push to sign big name players. But still the board and manager are confident to land some top quality players which the fans are craving for. According to media reports Juve have joined the bidding war to sign Atletico Madric starlet Sergio Aguero , the mercurial Italian Giuseppe Rossi, Roma forward Mirko Vucinic and Udinese’s flying Chilean Alexis Sanchez. But all seem highly unlikely to come to Turin as Rossi and Sanchez are being chased by Barcelona, the current Champions league winners so if they decide to leave their current club they would prefer a move to the Spanish giants rather than Juve. Vucinic is heavily linked with Tottenham whereas Aguero is liked with Real Madrid and Chelsea. Juve preparing to sell many players most notable of them are strikers Vincenzo Iaquinta and Amauri whom the club could sell in order to gain some money to fund big money transfers.
Juve are the most successful team in the history of Italian football but they have experienced turbulent times after getting involved in the match fixing scandal which relegated them to Serie B. This lead to many important players leaving the club. Though they got promoted but the void was never quite filled. But with such heavy spending this season we could expect Juventus to mount a serious challenge for some silverware and regain their lost pride.
