All such allegations are happening to be true and now there is a concern that who will replace these injured players to the West Indies tour. Well if IPL is the main source for player’s injury then it’s also the main source for replacements.
The IPL is not overdose of cricket to the domestic players, in fact as everybody knows that it’s a brilliant opportunity for them to showcase their talent. Like every year, even this year there are some domestic players who rose to the occasion.
It’s almost certain that Virendra Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh will miss the ODI Series of West Indies tour due to fatigue and injury problems, but due to IPL there are players who are capable to fill up the vacant seats.
Ambati Rayudu, Paul Valthaty, Manoj Tiwary and Rohit Sharma are in the forefront to be selected in the absence of Sehwag, Sachin and Dhoni. In the bowling department, there will be battle between Rahul Sharma and Iqbal Abdulla to fill up Harbhajan’s seat, as R Ashwin’s selection is almost probable. Among the pacers Siddharth Trivedi, till now is the best option, but the availability of Pravin Kumar, might be a roadblock for his selection.
Ambati Rayudu will be at the forefront among the other inform players as he is in good form and he also offers the role of a wicket keeper, which will be the best replacement for MS Dhoni. Till now he has scored 349 in this season and he is sure shot contender for the orange cap.
Among the bowlers there will be a tuff fight between Iqbal Abdulla and Rahul Sharma. Abdulla till now is the second highest wicket taker, whereas Rahul Sharma is the highest wicket taker for his team and he might also get vote from Yuvraj Singh, who might be the captain of the Indian team in the ODI Series, along with him, even Gautam Gambhir is another option for captaincy, as he has better captaincy record and he is leading his team well in the IPL. If Gambhir is the contender for captaincy then it also increases selection chances of Iqbal Abdulla.
Although the IPL is a big fatigue problem for the Indian players but it also solves the problem of the future of Indian cricket. One can say that it is “blessing in disguise” in term of new talent and money.
