The defender admitted that the better team won at Wembley and insisted that Barcelona is indeed the best.
Manchester United full back, Patrice Evra admitted that the Guardiola’s men are the best team on this planet and deserved to lift the Champions League Title. United, in pursuit of their fourth European Glory and avenge the 2009 loss, went into the game as a very competitive and strong side. However, they were handsomely beaten once again by the Spanish Giants, Barcelona, suffering a hurting 1-3 defeat at Wembley.
Barcelona was the hot favorites before and matches up and they showed why they are known to be the best. They dominated the game throughout the 90 minutes and hardly gave the Red Devils anything to produce, except Rooney’s goal in the first half. Barcelona drew the 1st blood, courtesy to a fine display of football, Pedro scoring in the 1st half. However, United stepped up immediately after conceding and soon Rooney showcased a world class moment, scoring a scorcher to level the scores. Both the teams went into their dressing room, 1-1 being the scores at half time.
Soon after the 1st half, it was all Barcelona. The possession kings did not hand the Red Devils even a slight chance to counter attack. Soon the magician, Messi scored a beautiful goal, followed by a magical goal by David Villa. The game was killed then and United were down and out around the 60 minute mark.
Following United’s 1-3 loss at the Wembley, Evra admitted that the better team deserved to lift the trophy and Barcelona were indeed the best and stated that his team can have no complaints after the loss. He said “The best team won tonight.”
“I think we have to give credit to Barcelona. Even though I play for Manchester United and we always want to be the best in the world, tonight Barcelona were the best.
“For the moment we have to accept that for the last four years Barcelona have been the best team in the world, and United the second best.”
Evra also praised the Catalan game style and insisted that the Spanish Giants have a great deal of understanding among the players.
He further added “We know each other, but they know each other so well, so perfectly.”
“Every time Messi gets the ball he knows Xavi is going to be there, Pedro is going to be there, or Iniesta. It was very difficult, Barcelona keep the ball really well.”
Meanwhile, Evra’s team-mate, Chicharito Hernandez who was expected to make an impact at Wembley following his dream debut run in England, failed to flourish in the finals. He too expressed his disappointment following United 1-3 loss, saying, “’This Defeat Hurts, We Must Learn The Lessons.” The saga wandering upon who the best team is seem to diminish after Barcelona defeated the Red Devils comprehensively lifting their 4th Champions League Title.
