The finalists are up and ready for the grand finale. Both Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore will be facing each other for the 3rd time in a week and the stakes are quite high. But now they meet at a much bigger stage both as well as the venue and the surmounting pressure. We will have to wait and watch as it’s hard to pick out a winner.
This contest certainly is building some serious rivalry between CSK and RCB. The concept of arch rivals seemed to have swept past both teams. Strong reactions prove it, Zaheer when asked how it was for reaching a final with MI and now RCB, reacted immediately” there is only one thing in common, CSK”, that’s aggression for you. With Rey Jennings desperate to halt the unassailable home record of Chennai and Gayle in stupendous flow keeping in mind about Ashwin though, captain cool Dhoni believes his team to do the talking on the field.CSK definitely looks like the team to beat. The belief surges not by looking at a team with great guns but with 11 players performing to their maximum potential. They lost the first final and Dhoni immediately grouped his team on the field and that gave hopes for many more to achieve. Dhoni has built a team which is today’s CSK. All similar faces but with each outshining the other team’s big names. CSK is a unit not only of cricketing faces but with an aura of supporting staff headed by Fleming and an inspirational team owner. Dhoni was all words of praise for his owner for his motivation just before heading into Dharamsala in last year’s IPL and we know the end result. “Iam proud of what you have achieved so far and just enjoy yourself as if you are playing your last game”, these are more than enough to clinch a IPL and Champion’s trophy. As far as the team strength is concerned, they have struck the balance node in terms of batting, bowling and firepower and Morkel’s outburst seems to have a happy ending.
RCB are riding high on the shoulders of Chris Gayle and his 6th Man of the Match (MOM) in 11 games just proves. The opening duo of Zaheer and Arvind looks deadly. AB de Villiers was the only hope for RCB in their starting games but his knocks went in vain and with the return of Gayle he has been lost out of nowhere. Vettori would be backing on his spin web and Syed’s bowling spell in the playoff is a positive sign for the skipper. With Mithun grabbing 2 consecutive Karbonn Kamal catch awards, RCB has raised their fielding standards. Pomershbach was a surprise package and RCB looks to this guy to finish things off if at all Gayle, Kholi, AB de Villiers spares a thought.
It has been an entertaining tournament so far and Chepauk promises to end it the same way though. Let’s keep our fingers crosses hoping for a super over and the let the best team win.
