Chennai Super Kings

The most consistent team of IPL have booked place in final at their den, which fortress is unconquered in this season. They look like they are inevitably going to be champions this year too. Chennai is only team to feature in every years playoff stage, reach three times to final and consecutively to reach finals in two season are sitting pretty, to lock horns with which ever team reaches final on 28th May.

Chennai Super Kings chased a seemingly impossible target of 176 from 25-2 in 6 over with 2 balls to spare against Royal Challengers Bangalore. They made berth for final at Chennai. They now await for other team with which they will compete in final. The defenders will start as favourite in final to defend their title against either Bangalore, or the winner of the eliminator between Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders.

The blistering Suresh Raina made an impressive 73 not out which fetched him man of the match and put on 46 runs along with Morkel in just three overs, for the fifth wicket to take their team home. Before this, Subramaniam Badrinath played key innings of 34 and his partnership with Raina hoisted 50 in 52 balls. They made sure that there were no more shackles in their innings and set platform for rampaging lower order of CSK.

When Dhoni took charge, they need twelve of every over; he made a flashy 29 from 19 balls. A tight 18th over by Gayle was dismaying Chennai’s spirits. But in next over Aravind was hit for three sixes by Morkel and Raina for 21 runs. CSK need 12 runs off the last over, bowled by Daniel Vettori, Morkel hit him for a four and a six to complete the task. Earlier, Virat Kohli struck a superb unbeaten 70 off only 44 deliveries to lift Royal Challengers Bangalore to enforce 175 for 4 on board.

Looking at Chennai’s superb form at home, they are hopeful to pull off the final match. Although they went down in their last league game against Bangalore, they came strongly in First IPL Playoff Qualifier in Wankhede, Mumbai on Tuesday. Chennai won all 7 of their home games this season. Chennai, the IPL champions last year, who are true lions of den and now, final in their backyard are confident to lift the cup once again.
