Manchester United’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes that his side can beat their English rivals, Arsenal and go on to win the title for a record 19th time.
The Scot has admitted that his team is pretty confident of beating the title rivals and termed United’s away from criticism as ‘unfair’. Manchester united is scheduled to play Arsenal and Chelsea in their next two league encounter. Manchester United is set to face their English Rivals, Arsenal today at the Emirates. United will look to carry on their good form against Wenger and company this season. The Gunners have a failed to achieve any recent success against the Red Devils – not earning a victory in their last seven meetings. Arsenal will look to get something against their old rivals, when the two sides meet at the Emirates. This season too, United have got the better of Arsenal, beating them in the FA Cup Quarter Finals and at the Old Trafford earlier this season.
Ferguson is irritated with the news that United’s upcoming fixtures give Arsenal and Chelsea a chance to win the Title and views it in a different manner. Ferguson said “We want to win these games”.
The Scot earlier stated ““The thing that puzzles me is that people keep saying we’ve still got to play Arsenal and Chelsea as if we’re going to lose them”,
He further added “People have been inferring for some time that this is Arsenal’s chance to beat us on their ground and come back to win the league.”
“Well, I take a different view and my view is why can we not win these games? The form we are in, we have a chance of doing that. They are not easy games but they are not going to be easy games for Arsenal or Chelsea either.”
The Red Devils have just dropped two points in the league at Old Trafford but have faced a lot of criticism for their poor away form, which Ferguson believes is unfair. Ferguson stated that his side has had enough criticism for their away form.
“Some of it has been justified. I haven’t been happy with some of the away form but our form at Old Trafford has been magnificent, first class. “We have had some great performances and scored the most goals in the league and overall the criticism has not been well founded”, Ferguson added.
The Blues have kept their title race alive, beating the Tottenham Hotspur side 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday. This will certainly create more pressure for the Red Devils and their encounter against the Gunners will be very decisive for both United and Chelsea. If United beat Arsenal, then surely United will be heading for another League Title.
Irrespective of United’s recent success against Arsenal, the Red Devils have to be at the top of their game to beat their old rivals. Arsenal is almost out of contention of winning the league but can fade United’s hope of winning the league as well. On the other hand, if United can continue with their good form and beat Arsenal, they are almost certain to win the League.
