Matches between Real Madrid and Barcelona are considered classics. Both these teams have world renowned players, controversial managers and both the teams play football at their best. When these teams meet each other, along with obsession there are ego clashes; hatred and dirty play of football. This present season of Spanish League, has witnessed all the above things, whenever these two teams have faced each other.
Let it be the 5-1 humiliation on real Madrid or 1-1 second play off of the Spanish League; let it be the final of Copa del Rey or the semi-finals of the Champions League. Real Madrid has come out and accused Barcelona to play cheating tricks, acting on the ground, which benefits the Catalans. The Spanish giant has also blamed the Referees for supporting the Catalans on the field.
First leg of the recent Champions League semi-final clash between these two teams just crossed the boundary of sportsmanship. Where both team players were playing dirty, there was physical and verbal war among them. Even comments of racism were also spoken on that day by the Barcelona mid-fielder Sergio Busquets, as blamed by the Madrid team management. Jose Mourinho, was sent off while the play was going on who also had a verbal war with Pep Guardiola before the start of the match. The spirit of sportsmanship was ignored when Barcelona player Dani Alves gave over reaction to Pepe’s tackle, result a red card to Pepe.
Another act of cheating was done by Javier Mascherano when he fell due to contact of Cristiano Ronaldo, who himself had been tripped. Due to this act, Gonzalo Higuaín’s 47th-minute goal was denied. Once again, the referees supported Catalans. Whatever is the result of the match but the Barcelona’s style of playing is not good for the game.
In response to this tricks Madrid star player Ronaldo has just said in an interview “If things don’t improve we should just stay home and let Barcelona play by themselves. Next year they should just give the cup directly to Barcelona.” Whereas Madrid assistant coach Aitor Karanka hit out at UEFA for overlooking the abuse allegedly directed at the Real Madrid’s full back full-back Marcelo by Sergio Busquets.
As of now Barcelona has marched to Champion League finals, let’s hope they will play true football without any controversies in the final.
