It was the World Cup for the India after 28 long years, then the IPL 4 Cup for the team under the same captain… and now what really they need? Rest? Certainly, at the presentation of the IPL 4 two days ago, Dhoni clearly said that he was out here the last four months, yet did not knock into his home at Ranchi. Clearly every player needs the rest and some time off the field, the new dispute between the yesteryear achievers is “when to take that off?”
IPL: it has to be agreed without any thought process that IPL is a lucrative gaming, the love for the game is there, yet the commercialization and the party nights outshine the four hour game. The corporate intervention into the game has globalised the entire phenomena and made the affair open for the freshers. What IPL has in store is a huge cash prizes, heavenly fame, the best ever fan base.
Country: a relatively lesser follow up, may the goodies and cash awards are not that big and will just end in a shallow wallet.
Sunil Gavaskar [Sunny], has one point in his mind which justifies for his slamming of the players. All Sunny asks on a very general basis is “If you are ready to take the injury for the IPL, but hesitating to do the same when it comes for the country, Why should I select you for the world tours?” this is very sensible and a million dollar question.
Kapil Dev, backed the players saying that it is a personal choice to decide when to take a break. This was a very generic statement and also Kapil mentioned that their love for the game is all the same- be it IPL or the Country. The enormity of the issue began when Sunny made it very transparent that “If a player is choosing IPL over the Country, the Selectors have all the responsibility and dispassionate decisive mind of not selecting them in the world tour.”
This issue of “Country vs Club” is said to have triggered from the star players, Sachin, Yuvraj, Sehwag, Gambhir to name a few who will not be playing in the West Indies tour.
