Can Delhi Compete Without Sehwag At Chennai’s Den?

Chennai Super Kings – are the outright favorites to win the home game against Delhi Daredevils at home, as it pans out the chances are higher due to the absence of the magician Sehwag. Chennai have emerged as the team to beat in the IPL so far as they have not made anything out of ordinary to be in the position where they are. Delhi, on the other hand are in a precarious position (as expected after their auctions in January), with only a mere mathematical possibility and the dependency on the other teams will make them qualify for the play – offs, which seems to be more of a remote chance.

CSK – have been fantastic in their batting display and the games that they have lost against Kochi and KKR have been hampered by rain when they were batting first. The batsmen especially Hussey, Raina and Badri have responded well to the situation well and have scored the lion’s share of the runs. Dhoni has been brilliant with the late finishes and it is not surprising that it has posted scores of more than 180 three times in the current season. The strength has been batting first and choking the opposition with the spinners. Bollinger has been brilliant with his economy and his late overs at the end are probing and difficult to get away.

Delhi, have won only 4 games in the IPL 2011 so far and out of that, 3 were made possible by their captain Sehwag and it is anybody’s guess that he is currently the orange cap holder. When Sehwag fires the team gets off to a great start and puts a fantastic total on board be it when they are chasing or facing! But now some one in the team has to put the hand up to join Warner in the opening slot and the team should look to Warner to bat through the innings (like Hussey for CSK) and the plan has to be to bat around him.

Chennai at its home have won all the 5 games at home so far this tournament and the captain backs the team to win here. Dhoni knows the conditions in and out and would like to extend the “home run” against Delhi.

Common Chennai, win against the Delhi and consolidate your position in top 4!
