Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale has assured everyone at the White Hart Lane that he has no plans of moving out and is committed to the club.
This news has handed a boosting confidence to the club and the fans. According to reports, the Wales International was linked to a possible move away from North London this summer, despite signing a new long term deal with Spurs back in March.
Bale’s heroic performance throughout the season, both in the Premier League and Champions League attracting big clubs like Inter Milan and Real Madrid to grab the services of the 21 year old. Bale inspired his club to a rollercoaster journey in the 2010-2011 season, especially in the Champions League, where Spurs reached the Quarter finals stage in their debut season. Spurs also were impressive in the League, despite some poor showing at the end of the season which resulted in 5th placed position. Chelsea was also interested in the winger and also stated a stunning £40million.
Despite all this, Bale has made it clear to the fans that he intends to stay at Spurs and help his side to fight harder to better their 5th placed finish this season.
When asked about the Welshman’s future at the club, he said “Yes, I just signed a new contract recently.”
“I fully believe that we’ve got a good enough squad to challenge for the fourth spot next season.”
However, the 21 year old did not rule out his desire to play abroad, saying that an opportunity to play abroad will appeal to him one day, with Barcelona being one of his playing destination, but insisted that at the moment he is happy to stay with Tottenham.
Bale stated “I left home when I was 15 and it was quite difficult then but if I have to move abroad then it’s something I wouldn’t be scared of.”
“Barcelona plays great, great, football but I’m happy where I am.”
“I’m focused on what we want to achieve as a team next season and I’m enjoying my football here. I’m still 21, I’m getting a good run in the team and I’m still learning my football.”
Tottenham manager, Harry Redknapp, is also speculated with a link to move to Chelsea following Ancelotti’s sacking at the end of the season. However, Bale hopes that Redknapp will follow him and will remain at Tottenham.
Talking about Redknapp, the Wales International added “I don’t think anybody at the club wants to see him go and I’m sure they’re doing all they can to keep him there.”
The winger was full praise for the manager and admitted that Redknapp has been a massive change for the club. He said “He’s been massive in what he’s done at the club.”
Bale added “When he first came here we were in the relegation zone. He’s taken us from relegation to Champions League and he’s turned us completely upside down and into the team we wanted to be.”
However, Bale later insisted that the club needs to spend in order to strengthen the side next season so as to compete once again for a Champions League spot.
He stated “It’s going to be very difficult, obviously, with all the other teams spending and making their squads better.”
“Hopefully we can do the same, invest in a few good players, kick on next season and do one better than we did this season.”
Regardless about the big signings, all that the fans and club want is to see Bale and Redknapp carry on their combination which will do wonders for the club.
