Victoria Azarenka won the final and lifted the Miami title after defeating Maria Sharapova.
The Russian won the match 6-1, 6-3 with a superb display. This was her second Miami title; the first was in 2009 when she defeated Serena Williams.
Azarenka was flying high as she just lost one game in the opening set and won it six games to one with ease.
Sharapova started to give a fight but lost her serve. Maria got the break back a lot of times and started to look tough for Azarenka.
Azarenka was adamant to win the title and she succeeded in doing so when she won the second set 6-4.
Azarenka said, “I think I had the right tactics, she likes to swing big, and when she has time it’s really heavy. I tried to take time away. I changed my mentality a little bit. I am enjoying myself so much on the court.”
