There was no stopping him that day. The day when he realized that he should not always be the docile-always constant performing guy, but the hitter he originally was. In DY Patil Stadium on Sunday; he just threw the weight of the responsibility off his shoulders and took the time to be his normal self. His normal blasting-trashing invincible batting machine self. IPL Bowlers; please beware – our vintage Yuvraj Singh is back in business! It really brought out the entertainer in him!
Anchoring the middle order for Team India showed a dormant history. But on Sunday he was literally gorging himself with runs. A sumptuous feast for himself and a wonderful delight for the audience indeed! Blasting his score of 66 in just 32 balls he had 4 short boundaries but 5 of the bigger ones! He was cracking the spine of the bowlers there and was merrily feasting on the reactions!
Jesse Ryder also was a batting machine and was a real challenge for the Daredevil’s bowlers. With his tremendous confidence and ferocity of his stroke play, he knuckled the bones of the Daredevils. Venugopal Rao’s balls were Bon Appetite` for Ryder. Next up, Irfan Pathan tried probing the batsman around the off-stump but all he received was fierce slashes through cover. Umesh Yadav tried to stop the splintering shots with a stump-to-stump line but instead gave away 21 runs in his opening over. At 60, finally he was taken at deep square leg.
His robust innings comprised of five boundaries and five sixes off just 27 balls. Then came Yuvraj, shining with his armour of swagger and aggression and he defined his own entertainment methods exquisitely. Dinda felt the pressure when the Pune Warriors captain flew three sixes in the 20th over, finishing his first half-century in third homematch. Yuvraj had dropped a catch off Sehwag, clashing with a teammate but quickly erased the black mark by outshining Irfan Pathan, Naman Ojha, Adam Finch and dangerous Venugopal Rao too.
Bitterness of his team losing the match must be a ounce less than what it could have been without his blasting innings. He definitely is a trump card for his mates and a knight in armour of confidence and aggression!
