Tendulkar might have added a World Cup medal that he craved for so long to his name this year, but it is unlikely that he is going to celebrate his birthday this year. Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who turns 38 Sunday, has preferred to put off celebrations in view of the worsening condition of the spiritual idol Sathya Sai Baba. He also remains doubtful for the Indian Premier League game against the Deccan Chargers.
Tendulkar is now playing the Indian Premier League after being honored with the World Cup. His last two years as a batsman have been staggering. He was named the cricketer of the year 2010. He also continued from where he left in the previous year, in the test series against South Africa and in the World Cup. His dream run continued in the IPL too for he was the orange cap holder a couple of days back before Valthaty grabbed it from him. This said, this year’s birthday might have created an aura amongst the fans, but the greatest batsman of all times said he was very concerned about the health of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
It is well known that Tendulkar is a staunch devotee of Sai Baba of Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh. Tendulkar, who has visited Puttaparthi on several occasions to seek Baba’s blessings, had planned a party in the hotel to celebrate his birthday. The Mumbai Indians management and HCA officials had even made some arrangements for the party. Over the last week Sai Baba, 85’s health condition has worsened and is now very critical. In his twitter feed, he said that he is praying for Shri Sathya Sai Baba’s quick recovery and also requested his fans to join hands with him.
He wasn’t the part of the team that landed here in Hyderabad but according to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) he will join the squad the match against Deccan Chargers here on Sunday. However, he is uncertain for the match and has also decided not to celebrate his birthday, sources said. The sources expressed the possibility on him staying away from the game in order to pay a visit to Puttaparthi.
