The battle between the two ageless legends started as early as in the late 90s but thanks to the Indian Premier League, it is unlikely to end. Sachin Tendulkar Vs Shane Warne duel will probably prove a crowd pulling headline for tomorrow’s game between the Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals.
Rajasthan is back to its winnings ways after registering a comprehensive victory over Kochi Tuskers while Mumbai have been as dominant as ever in the IPL. Both are located at the first and fourth spot respectively.
The Mumbai Indians, who were tagged as hot favorites to win this edition of Indian Premier league, given their team and their bench strength, they have been able to live up to the hype that was built around them. So far, they have played six games and have lost only one.
The Rajasthan Royals on the other hand, are showing no signs of being affected by the fine inflicted on them before the commencement of the auction. Though they were struggling to regain form losing three games in a row, they can draw all the confidence they need from the last game. They notched up a fine win against the in-form Kochi Tuskers Kerala. They have marshaled their resources to their very best and almost every player has contributed in what has been a see-saw tournament for them. They have won three out of the seven and lost as many with one game getting abandoned due to rain.
For Rajasthan and Mumbai, their skippers have always been leading from the front. The only difference being, when Warne fails, Rajasthan’s bowling has appeared very thin. Apart from Shane Watson, with Sidharth Trivedi and Shaun Tait, the bowling attack fails to impart any fear in the opposition. The batting heavily relies on the likes of Shane Watson Rahul Dravid and Ross Taylor. Only a combined effort could produce desired results.
For the Mumbai Indians it has just been the team that the doctor ordered. The batting order is the most formidable any league team could have had in the history of the game. With Symonds announcing his return to form, it appears even more so. With the likes of Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Andrew Symonds, Kieron Pollard doing their job to perfection, Mumbai should be hoping for a cake-walk on Friday.
This said and the way Sachin Tendulkar has dominated Warne during his regime, the game would pose as a great challenge for Warne as a player and as a skipper.
