After losing the match on 25th April 28, 2011 against the Chennai Super Kings. Pune Warriors India had an opportunity to settle the scores.
By winning the toss, Pune elected to bat first and just scored 141 runs on the board. Like the previous occasion even this time Pune lost quick wickets, majority of the batsmen got out while playing the pull shot.
It seemed that Yuvraj’s lad had only one plan, go out there and attack. They were 44 for 4 all because of the poor shots selection. Jessy Ryder was the first to return and the same over after two balls Monish Mishra did the same thing. Wrongly timed the ball and got out.
Manish Pandey was eager to try the pull shot what monish Mishra had tried and got out; whereas Mithun Manhas was shockingly bowled. No Pune batsmen might have think about creating a partnership.
Apart from Yuvraj and Robin’s 42 runs partnership, Pune managed to score 141. Yuvraj fought a lonely battle as he bravely scored 62 runs.
Pune had a good start in defending the total. They got the rid of dangerous Hussy in the 4thover; Pune didn’t allow the Super kings to play freely till Hussy was on the crease. But once Badrinath came in replacing Raina, runs began to flow as per Super Kings wishes.
On the other side Pune warriors did not utilize the oppurtunites, fielding of Pune Warriors was not good, especially of Jerome Taylor. He missed the catch of Badrinath which went for a six; actually a six foot tall Taylor did not gave an sheer attempt to catch the ball.
Chennai batted with proper strategy and executed them well, whereas Pune just waited to happen something as their bowler and even other fielders as gave in the 18th over.
It seems that if Pune need to win, they to come out with opposite strategies which could help them at different situations.
