In a cloudy and a cool twilight, most unexpected weather in scorching Chennai (at this time of the year), it is the battle of the Kings versus the Warriors, where both teams would like to win to get the vital 2 points! It has been a see – saw battle for both of the teams where they have won 2 games each as of now and are looking to gain the much needed momentum to carry forward the dream of their cities.
Chennai, guided by the “Midas Dhoni” is a slight favorite ahead of the “Versatile Yuvi” because of the home conditions. The conditions at Chennai is much like in Dhoni’s back of the palm where he has always believed in strengthening the team with 3 spinners at home. Dhoni’s men have so far been so good in patches and at some times were far from ordinary. Mike Hussey has given the team the wings to fly, but his ability to stay till the end is being tested at every occasion. Whenever he fails to stay till the end, Chennai has suffered to put up a decent total on the board. Yuvi’s team has had mixed fortunes till date and they will bank on Smith and Jessy to give them a pep up start in the start of the game.
A much awaited game to watch out for as there is so much in store! A win here will make the teams to put their names in the top 4 list. Fielding will give the impetus to the match, as both teams are not the best in that arena. Chennai must have realized how a Pollard catch can turn the match on its head during its loss to Mumbai and take a page out of his effort and look to hang on their close chances. Yuvi’s men had a close match with Mumbai but all said and done it was more of a known result that Yuvi’s team did not put up a good total to defend for their bowlers. It is interesting to view from this match, if both the teams have learnt from their mistakes against Mumbai (who are at top of the tree).
The men to watch out for are Hussey, Raina, Badri (from Chennai) and Jessy, Uthappa and Smith (from Pune) who all are match winners on their day.
Let’s pray that rain gods stay away and wish both the teams the best to come up with a funtastic performance.
