Kochi and Delhi both will be fighting to gain some lost pride and confidence and get back on winning ways.
The two have been miserable recently and cannot afford any further losses. Both are lying at the bottom of the table and would be hoping for some glory. The matchup will certainly decide the fate of both the teams in the tournament, when the two sides face each other on Saturday at the Nehru Stadium, Kochi.
Kochi playing at home will not be so keen on bagging on the home advantage, as they were wrecked at home the other night by the Deccan Chargers. The Kochi side is currently struggling with form, suffering two back to back defeats. The batting order looks out of sorts, as they crumbled for a mere 104 against Rajasthan, following another embarrassing scorecard of 74 against Deccan. The Kochi side looked quite strong and impressive earlier, when they got the better of the top teams in the league. They defeated the top placed Mumbai side, the inform Kolkata Side and the defending champions Chennai side. Since then, everything seems to go against the Kochi Side.
Kochi is lying 8th in the table, but they are only a point drift from the 4th placed Bangalore team. Though they have recently failed to impress with their form, they can bounce back and get going again in the competition. All they need is just one win which will set things alive.
On the other hand, Delhi Daredevils is constantly failing to perform and look completely shattered. They are lying at the bottom of the table with just 4 points from 7 matches. Delhi suffered yet another defeat on Thursday at the hands of Kolkata. Kolkata defeated the Daredevils by 17 runs. This means Delhi have now lost 2 games in a row, just like Kochi. But Delhi is lying with just 4 points at the bottom of the table. Kochi can be alive with just a win. Whereas Delhi will have to win more matches.
The Daredevils really need to show some class if they have to stand a chance in the tournament. The bowling looks fine, but the batting is just ordinary. Sehwag and Warner are the only two on which the Delhi team relies heavily upon. Here is where they struggle. Except the two, the batting does not have the experience and composure to build an innings.
The Kochi’s batting department is struggling too. They have the right batting combination and have experience in the side. However, it is not clicking at the moment for both the side. Bowling seems to impress, as RP Singh is leading from the front.
The two teams can only settle for a win, as any more losses will fade away their chances of reaching the qualifying stages. Kochi will look to bounce back from their horror performance from the last game, and so will the Delhi side who seem to have forgotten how to win a match.. Irrespective of the result, both the teams will go out hard and each other and try to gain the lost confidence.
