Alex Ferguson titled Ryan Giggs as ‘Amazing’ following United’s 2-0 victory against Schalke on Wednesday. Ferguson hailed United’s victory as of one of the best in their all time European encounters.
Ferguson admitted that the veteran, Giggs still continues to impress him with his football. Giggs played a key role in the match, helping his side to register a 2-0 victory over Schalke. The Welshman was responsible for most of the chances created by United throughout the game.
The 37 year old, could have easily grabbed a couple of goals before half time, but Neuer stood strong and denied United’s every possible goal scoring efforts. United were left frustrated at the end of half time. United almost had as many as 11 chances, but failed to score in the 1st half.
Giggs finally broke the deadlock in the 67th minute, after receiving an excellent through ball from Rooney. Within two minutes, Rooney scored another goal to seal the match. It was all over for Schalke.
The Welshman has always proved his worth and continues to impress Ferguson. The veteran has agreed to sign a contract with the club for the next season and Ferguson is amazed by Giggs longevity at the Club.
Ferguson stated “It is strange because Ryan’s peak years seem to have lasted so long.”
“You would think, at 37, he would be showing signs of waning. I don’t see any evidence of that.”
“We look after him in terms of rest before games but when he gets that freshness he doesn’t show any sign of fatiguing at all. He is an amazing man.”
Giggs teammate Evra was also impressed by the Welshman’s performance against Schalke. He feels that Giggs’s speed and presence on the field in indeed remarkable. In a humorous manner Evra stated “He must stop talking about his yoga. He says it makes him run faster. I will have to sign up immediately!”
Giggs also played a key role in their Semi Finals encounter against their English rivals Chelsea. He assisted goals for United in both the legs.
United were dominant throughout the game and Schalke just looked ordinary and out of sorts. They only thing about Schalke to cherish was the efforts of Neuer which kept United quiet till the 60th minutes.
With this win, United has almost booked a ticket for Wembley where they will be facing either Real Madrid or Barcelona.
