Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has announced a stunning £40million bid for the Tottenham star Gareth Bale. With Chelsea unlikely to win the league this season, the owner is set to attract big names. The owner has sanctioned the huge signing amount to get the 21 year old to Stamford Bridge.
Tottenham is currently lying 5th in the table, 4 points behind the 4th placed Manchester City. Given dim hopes for Tottenham to book a place in next year’s Champions League, the possibility of Bale moving out of White Hart Lane looks quite possible.
Bale, who was recently awarded as the PFA player of the year, signed a £60,000 per week four year contract with Tottenham. But Chelsea can offer much more than this.
Moreover, Bale has also hinted that he desires to play the Champions League again, which can be a sign of worry for the Club and the fans. The Wales International was outstanding with his performance in this year’s Champions League.
Chelsea will be looking to get the Welshman at Stamford Bridge next season. Chelsea is also in talks with Ajax Amsterdam. They are interested in signing Ajax’s right back Gregory van der Wiel.
However, Van der Vaart, former Real Madrid player, has urged Tottenham to make efforts to keep Bale at White Hart Lane. Bale has been simply outstanding for Spurs, helping his side to reach the quarter final stages of the champions league.
It is a sign of worry for the fans as they would like Bale to stay. All they can do is wait and watch at what happens at the transfer window.
