The outstanding career if Bob Houghton as the coach of Indian football team came to an end with controversies surrounding him. Bob was charged of racially abusing an Indian referee Dinesh Nair in an international friendly against Yemen last year.
Houghton said that the allegations were baseless and he did not abuse the referee in any manner.
The incident has again hit the image of AIFF badly as the fans of Indian football are angry at the AIFF members for their role in this.
Houghton submitted his resignation to the AIFF and then all the charges were dropped against him due to lack of evidence. Sources say that Bob was forced to resign in order to get the charges dropped.
AIFF said that Houghton has resigned due to some personal reasons and it has accepted his resignation and have come to terms. Bob resigned two years before his contract was to end and it clearly shows the dirty politics getting into the game.
Indian football cannot survive more if organisations like AIFF run the game in India and highly regarded coaches like Bob Houghton are forced to resign from their posts.
