The Saturday’s match was very dramatic and put me in a shell of shock. So I decided to have a feel-good article and later on comment on how incredulous Sachin was and how impossible was the team. So here goes the Chit-Chat Club (CCC) amalgamating the Three Musketeers, Navjot Sidhu, Sunil Gavaskar, and Ravi Shastri.
Navjot Sidhu
I tried hard not to mention about Sidhu for his poor personal records and political drama, yet he has made a seat for himself in the Fourth Umpire, though he failed in the game and at the parliament. Sidhu with his un-situational silly remarks was the creator of “Sidhuism”. This religion is for people who like dumb witless jokes. But amidst the serious discussion of the match, we certainly need an entertainment and that comes in the form of the man with colourful turbans.
One common statement that he makes if India fails is “Indian batting is like a cycle-stand, if one falls, it takes the rest of them with it”.
And Sidhu, we need you to make us chuckle in between!
Sunil Gavaskar
A retired international cricketer is now a commentator, columnist, and also an author. He walked out of the international cricket circuit with the record of maximum run-getter!
He is right contrast to Sidhu, a very stern commentator with formidable reputation. Sunil often plugs in several notable advices for the budding strikers along with his comments. Anyone with in depth knowledge of the game can surely enjoy his comments; anyone with a shallow feel of the game can giggle with Sidhu’s.
Ravi Shastri
This is my favorite. The man, who had a very brief period in the international cricket and later on with his premature experience entered the commentators’ fraternity, is now one of the best. He is unique, not like passing jokes or passing intelligent remarks. He is well known for his stereotyped phrases, and when you happen to listen to his commentaries do wait for the platitude one like “that will set the cat among the pigeons.”
