In the last couple of days news channels are giving reports on Sourav Ganguly’s involvement in the fourth season of the IPL (Indian Premier League), instead of being so confused why not just asks the man itself?
Apparently in some promotional function in Kolkata, Ganguly has been reported to have said that he has been approached by neither Kochi nor any other franchise for that matter.
As per him the various rumours have been circulating due to the reports in newspapers and that he found out he was being approached by Kochi and Mumbai Indians from the newspapers itself. “I do not know much about the teams and it seems you guys know more than me,” he said.
Some newspapers even reported that Mumbai Indians was showing an interest in him, but as he said it was news to him as well.
Sourav Ganguly was unsold in the auction of this season of the IPL, many were shocked at this strange turn of events but many dared to argue that it was fair. He however has not been very candid about his views on the outcome of this auction.
Why it is even stranger is because Ganguly had increased his base price just a day before the auction, the question is was it because it was tactical or was it because there was no doubt in his mind he would be bought by somebody so why not make an extra buck? Or was he promised by a team and they left him high and dry. Only he can give us an answer which will probably not be given any time soon, we’ll probably have to wait for another Autobiography like Herschelle Gibbs to get that answer. Oh well…
For any unsold player to be taken after the auction is a set of rules nobody really wants to get into, but a permission letter signed by all the owners of the 10 teams will have to be given if Sourav Ganguly will be taken by either Kochi and Mumbai Indians.
As we all know, Sourav Ganguly was captaining and in the Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous seasons, but on being asked if he would be a couch for the team, his reply was little short of telling SRK to take the “Mishti Doi” and stuff it.
With all this confusion along with rumours of the entire auction being rigged it’s a matter of time before Lalit Modi will be having the last laugh after he lights the match stick.
