The winner, against Barcelona has brought his self-esteem back. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has said that Arshavin’s slump in form is finally over, and is looking sharp as ever since scoring the winner against Barcelona in the first leg of the round of 16 Champions League tie.
The Frenchman admitted that the Russian trickster was having confidence related issues, and that resulted in his slump in form, Wenger has expressed hope though that it is now a thing of the past and that Arshavin will be able to replicate the magic with which he stunned the crowds.
Speaking to Arsenal TV Online Wenger expressed his happiness on the Russian attacker getting his form back; he was also quick to add that a slump in form was common in top players and constant crowd pullers.
David Villa had given the Spanish champions a lead just before the half hour mark. But two stunning goals from Dutch ace Robin Van Persie and second half substitute AndreyArshavin led the stage to a dramatic comeback and cap a first Arsenal wins in the last five games against the Catalans.
“I love Arshavin because he is a player, who always gives you hope, He can single handedly win you a game. He is a real difference maker”.
“He has been troubled for a while with confidence problems which has been stopping him from being the player we know he is. But I tell you I have seen a lot of top players and all go through this. Its nothing unusual. What is important is you have to come out stronger. Andrey was also going through this after all he is also a human being.”
Looking ahead of the FA Cup replay against Leyton Orient, Wenger revealed that he intends to use the Welsh ace Aaron Ramsey for the replay at the emirates. Aaron Ramsey has had loan spells earlier at Nottingham forest is now currently on loan till Cardiff city.
“His loan period ends on Saturday. One thing is for sure he is coming back here.” Wenger added.
“He will be available for the cup replay against Orient on Wednesday. I plan to use him. He is a useful addition.”
“The reports from Cardiff have been very good; he could not play on Saturday because he was experiencing a slight pain in his hip. So we asked not to use him for the game. But this Saturday he will be fit to play and hopefully will be available for all the future games for us
Andrey Arshavin and Aaron Ramsey being back in form, good times are ahead for Arsenal.
