Karachi, Feb 10: Pakistan cricket and controversies is just unstoppable as there is another controversy has been rise up, when the banned cricketer from playing Test cricket Salman Butt has signed an agreement with a private TV channel to give opinion about the upcoming World Cup. Sources has confirmed that former Test captain Salman Butt has signed an agreement with a channel five TV, where he will express his views and comments on the World Cup. “He has been paid a huge amount for the entire WC, said to be around half a million of rupees. Butt will be seen giving comments and expressing his views and opinions particularly involving the Pakistan matches,” sources said.
Salman Butt had a disaster moment last week, when he was banned for 10 years by an anti-corruption tribunal of the International Cricket Council on charges of spot fixing. His teammates Mohammad Asif was banned for seven years while Mohammad Amir was banned for five years by the tribunal. “If Salman Butt is seen commenting on the Pakistan cricket and the mega event of WC, then surely everyone will have a question that, why the banned cricketer have the rights to comment,” sourced said. The Pakistan Cricket Board are still not aware of this news as they are still waiting for the detailed judgement of the ICC tribunal, which they should receive ‘unofficially’ this week.
“It would be really interesting to see the response of the ICC on banned cricketer giving his opinions during the WC,” source said. ICC may not take action on Butt as he is technically employed by the TV channel and the trio cannot take part officially in any sanctioned and official cricket activity or event. A similar sort of controversy was erupted in India when Mohammad Azharuddin was seen on a television show, which led to strong reactions from ICC.
