With almost three months to go, the race to the top in the Premier League seems to be becoming a two-horse race between the Red Devils and the Gunners. Both Manchester United and Arsenal are looking in great form.
There’s only a 4 point difference between them, with Man U leading, and any one of these teams can top the table by the end of this season. For now though we can safely say that United is the better team with only a single loss and that too ironically against a team which is fighting a relegation battle, Wolverhampton.
Chelsea seems to be falling off track after a great start to the season. Even their manager Carlo Ancelotti admitted yesterday that it’s “unlikely” that they’ll be able to catch Manchester United in the League. Currently at the 5th spot with 45 points, they’ll be trying to break into the top four so as to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Liverpool, on the other hand, is getting better with each game, moving up the table consistently from the bottom ten to a respectable current 6th position. Even the addition of Torres in Chelsea hasn’t helped them, although he has only played two games and will be a player to watch out for once he adjusts.
Man U has continued to come together as a team despite losing Ronaldo and Tevez. Rooney was injured for a major part of the first half of the season and hasn’t been in the best of forms after his comeback. The Portugese winger, Nani has emerged as a player to watch out for and definitely a player to watch out for.
The competition is neck-to-neck between these top class teams with Arsenal despite playing in such a superb fashion find themselves four points behind United. The title will depend on how these two teams handle the rest of the season.
