Javier Faus – Vice president of finance, Barcelona has told RAC-1, That the club cannot spend beyond 34 million on Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.
The Spanish Champions are expected to table another offer for the Spanish international, who was a part of the Barcelona youth academy, before leaving the blaugrana to join the gunners in 2003.
Though Fabregas has always been vocal about his desire to return to his boyhood heroes, His Current club Arsenal are adamant that their captain is going nowhere, refusing to fulfill my wish.
Speaking to RAC-1, Faus said that with limited transfer budget, it was getting increasingly difficult to continue the pursuit of their biggest transfer target.
Faus commented: “It will affect our assessment of the Arsenal player. Another thing is the desire of the player to come, and he may have agreements with the coach, when he promised to stay there for two more seasons.”
“The club cannot spend more than 34 million euros on Cesc, we need to strengthen our staff too. The economy cannot support Barca suffering a net amount of transfers of more than 34 million euros. It should be added that in this figure, a transfer of any other player would be hypothetical.”
“Last summer, we made a forty million bid for Cesc and they weren’t even ready to negotiate with us.”
The Catalans have been in superb form this season, having lost only one game in the season, winning a record sixteen games in a row. Even a player of Fabregas’s level will have to start from the bench.
Whether Fabregas is willing to sit on the bench for his dream club and wait till the midfield maestro Xavi retires? Or stay at Arsenal where he has the chance to win everything with one of the most promising and talented squads in the world?
As statistics go by every player who left the gunners in the Wenger era, has seen a downfall in his career, will it be the same with Fabregas? Or has he made the emirates his home, the place where he truly has become a legend. Only time will tell.
