A billion hearts will beat for batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar as he attempts to win the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 for India in his record-equalling sixth appearance in cricket’s mega event.
Tendulkar will not be short of support in what is expected to be his last World Cup.
List of great players who will be participating in their last World Cup:
Sachin Tendulkar: Who can forget this name of Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar? Surely no one can ever. Yes it’s hard to swallow but most probably this will be the last WC of his career. His only wish would be to bring back the trophy back to nation after 28 long years. His career has been with lot of ups and downs but that has not stopped the little master to play extraordinary cricket everytime. He has many records to his name of which the biggest is his incredible knock of double hundred in an ODI in Gwalior last year. Hope this WC for Sachin ends up with on a high note.
Ricky Ponting: Australia’s most successful skipper and a great batsman for the country ‘Punter’ as he is called will be having his last WC. He is also known for very good fielding and has been brilliant when it comes to taking catches. He could be the one to break the record of centuries in Test cricket after Sachin but it seems his pace of runs has been slowed down in the last few years. But undoubtedly the Tasmanian will be the key man in this tournament and can be dangerous if he gets going.
Jacques Kallis: South African all-rounder and a quite experienced player Kalliswill be again the man who would probably be playing his last WC. He has shown terrific fitness by giving great results both in bowling and batting for the team in the last ten years. His name would always be included in the greatest of all rounder’s of all time. He has always played with calm head during pressure times for Proteas which is quite incredible.
Muttiah Muralidharan: The greatest bowler the World has ever seen. This magician has been unbelievable in his performance. His big eyes his always been fearful to watch but its bowling is even more fearful. The remarkable achievement feat of 800 Test wickets says it all. He is 81 wickets to complete 600 wickets in ODIs, which looks impossible. Certainly it would take plenty of efforts to break his record.
Shoaib Akhtar: The Rawalpindi express has a very hard career. More often he would be away from cricket because injuries or his behaviour and attitude. He’s been a very controversial cricketer which has affected his cricket very badly. But surely he would like to end his career with having some self respect. His pace has shaken all the great cricketers including Tendulkar. It is very rare that we get a bowler who can bowl to 150 plus miles per hour on consistent basis.
