New Delhi, Feb 08: Though Sourav Ganguly was rejected by the 10 IPL franchises during the players’ auction; he has no hard or bad feelings for the Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner Shah Rukh Khan, who supposedly offered him a role of team mentor. The former Indian captain says that he has played a major part in building up team India, where you can see the results today of its achievement. When asked him about the neglecting from IPL players auction, he said “I made lots of runs. Players of my age such as Adam Gilchrist, Dravid and Laxman are still playing actively in the tournament. Looking at my past form I should have been picked.”
When asked him about whether the KKR co-owner betrayed on him, he said “Shah Rukh offered me a role of team mentor. But I don’t think the team needs any as there are already many experts around them such as Dave Whatmore and Wasim Akram. And even I’m not interested to be the mentor.” When asked him about the not good any IPL season for KKR so far, he answered “Well KKR has tremendous potential to deliver the best, but the only lacking thing is self confidence. There was panic and disappointment every time we lost. The coach, owners and players all become panic every time, which doesn’t give power to perform well on consistent basis like the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.”
When asked him about that IPL franchises didn’t re-purchase him, he said “To be really honest I was very heart broken and sad as it was unexpected. I believe that I’m little older but that doesn’t count as long as I’m playing good cricket. When asked him about his future plans, he said “I’m preparing for the administrators role at some stage. I would also like to be associated with Bengal cricket at some point of time. Even I would love to Coach the Indian cricket team in future.”
