Emmanuel Adebayor believes it’s just because of god that he has become a footballer, a successful footballer today, and there’s no reason not to thank god for it.
Emmanuel Adebayor had a troubled infancy he couldn’t walk till the age of four. Coming from an underdeveloped country like Togo, nothing much could have been done about his medical disorder. Adebayor revealed his mother had to face a lot of hardships in his childhood till one incident changed his life forever.
The ex-Arsenal striker speaking to Arsenal TV a couple of years back that he couldn’t even walk till the age of four, and once his mother took him to a church and spent hours praying there for a cure for his beloved son. Adebayor was just lying in the church, until someone kicked a football in the church. Little Emmanuel jumped up and started chasing the ball. A miracle indeed!
“After I was born, for three or four years, I couldn’t walk. My mum took me to all the places in Africa; Nigeria, Lagos, Ghana, almost everywhere. We would travel all the villages just to make it happen to make me walk but it just didn’t happen anywhere.”
“Anyway I was in the church laying down, and a ball comes into the church, and I run towards the ball and kick the ball. My first walk as a child was in kicking the ball; I just wanted to get that ball.”
“Everyone started crying, people started praising and glorifying the lord. Your son is walking because of a football; this means your son is born to play football he has got it in his blood. God wanted me to play football and I did.”
A touching story indeed; sometimes in life we feel that, maybe we are not worthy enough. Or god has loves us no more. These thoughts once came in my mind, prompting me to write this article. Next time you’re down depressed, just bow your head in worship to God. And don’t forget ever God has a plan for you. Everyone has a story, let’s get to the end of our story, and don’t give up guys.
